Biography

Rt. Rev. Jean Marie Ogez was born on 12 May 1910, in Dunkerque in France. he was ordained a priest on 29 June 1935, he worked in Tunisia-Bamako as Air-force Chaplain, worked in Jerusalem as a teacher until 1945 from where he was asked to serve in Zambia.

On 11 December 1956, following the retirement of Bishop Lacoursière, Jean-Marie Ogez, a French White Father, was nominated and subsequently ordained on 23 March 1957 Bishop of Mbarara. On 25 November 1968, Bishop Ogez resigned.

He died on 10 July 2000 at the age of 90 having served as a priest for 65 years, 43 years as a Bishop of which 12 years were spent serving in Mbarara.
